The
"REFUSED ARE FUCKING DEAD" DVD is finally released and the response from
media and fans so far has been overwhelming.
If
you haven't seen this gem already you are really missing out on something!
Our recommendation is: check it out and buy yourself a copy as soon as
possible.
Just
in case you been been in jail, been isolated at the Guantanamo base, or
just recently woke up from a long beauty-sleep, here's reality: the almighty
Refused were a band that changed the musical landscape for ever. For good
and bad (if you ask them...) with bands all across the world paying homeage
name-dropping the band as 'the shit' in regards to their -98 released masterpiece
"The Shape Of Punk To Come". A record that had it been under the radar
of big media magazines, rock critics would be hailed and praised like there
was no tomorrow.
Some
magazines has not missed out though. Germanys biggest indie/alternative
magazine Visions ranked the album as the #9 most important album ever.
We're talking competition with Neil Young, Rolling Stones, Nirvana, Metallica
etc - all the big dinosaurs. The UK's Big Cheese had the album as #2 in
their listing of the most important punk/hardcore albums ever. If I am
not mistaken "Never mind the bollocks" were at #1 and The Clash "London
Calling at #3". And some more modest Britons over at Kerrang voted the
record number #13 of the most important records ever.
Wíth
their swansong "The Shape of Punk To Come" Refused managed to kick-start
something huge, and in the wake of it has become to modern punk/hardcore/the
new school what Minor Threat became in the 80´s, or what the Pixies
became for the indie/alternative scene. A band that will continue to influence
bands and individuals for many years to come.
In
other words: no excuse this record should not be in your collection.
Here's
a bunch of reviews we just picked up, and a link to a great feature/interview
with ex-guitar player Kristofer Steen (maker of the film):

"...the
footage that is used in the documentary itself captures their rage, their
passion and their very vitality in a way rarely managed on television.
They were perfect. Refused are fucking dead, long live fucking Refused.

"...it
is Steen's documentary that is the real draw here. Not only has he cleared
the fog of mystery surrounding the bands demise, he has also established
himself as a talented filmmaker..."
